We are in the midst of a global energy and environmental crisis marked by rapid depletion of conventional oil reserves and a steadily increasing concentration of green-house gases from use of fossil fuels. Although no nation has set forth a clear, comprehensive program to address this crisis, there is underway, in the private and academic sectors, an intensive search for novel scientific methods and technological platforms to produce clean and affordable energy.
Among the technologies of interest are hydrogen powered fuel cells (FC) which have the attributes of zero-pollution at point of use, high energy-conversion yields, low noise, and renewability. Proton exchange membrane (PEM)-based FC (PEMFC) have received particular attention in one huge sector of the energy economy, namely transportation uses, due to their high energy efficiency (up to 50% conversion efficiency) and low operating temperature (50~100°C). In other uses, the overall efficiency of PEMFC can be more than 85% if the heat generated is recovered for house heating purposes.
With a mission to promote commercialization of fuel cells, particularly PEMFC, Lilium Energy, Inc. (LEI) specializes in distributing high-quality, low cost Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEAs) for hydrogen fuel-cell applications. The MEAs we vend are based on innovative chemistry and coating technologies jointly developed in Taiwan by researchers at Chang Gung University and Mingchi University. This proprietary technology platform allows us to offer first-tier 3-layer and 5-layer MEAs in various dimensions with competitive pricing.
